We all have good days & bad days - some days are both!
I published my first official blog post yesterday – the sweetest comments, texts & words of encouragement came pouring in. I was beaming & proud of myself for finally following through with this dream of mine. While getting ready for work & planning the awesome day that we were going to have at the store… I get the dreaded phone call from school.
Sutton had a sore throat. I was fully ready to give him a dose of ibuprofen & send him on to class but those big brown puppy dog eyes got the best of me. He knows how to turn on the pitiful. We get to The Gift Shop around 10:30 & that squirt of Chloraseptic spray that Mrs. Penny gave him must have really kicked in because he would not shut his mouth! I know those of you who know Sutton (& his Mommy) are shocked!
I took him to stay with his Dado until his doctor’s appointment, ran home to finish getting ready & grab that cold cup of coffee. Excited to get back to work, I rush up the stairs & DOWN I GO! Now, it takes a LOT OF talent to FALL UP STAIRS Y’all & I am pretty darn good at it. (obviously not the first time this has happened!) I twist my ankle, skin my toe, & my coffee goes everywhere. Luckily, it had been cooling for about an hour now. I can always find the silver lining!!! Disheveled, wet & a tad embarrassed I pick myself up – shake it off & enter The Gift Shop to see 3 beautiful faces trying their best not to laugh at me! Yes, I was fine & Sutton ended up being fine too! (NO STREP! Praise BE!)
It sure did help to have those friends there to take my mind off of my clumsiness & worries! I am so blessed & thankful to have so many friends that are willing to pick me up when I fall ~ Literally or figuratively!
September 11th is always a bittersweet day. We remember the horror & terror that we felt for the victims & the families & for many of us the uncertainty of our safety in our own great country. We also remember the first responders, the heroes, our military and the helpers! Those are the ones that will pick up the pieces when the world literally falls down around you! Be a helper, be the light!
“Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you.” ~L.R. Knost
